Concept C: ‘Library & Community Center’
Fully accessible library and community center with broader range of city services. Maintain existing library collection. 60% increase in usable space (approx. 4,000sqft). Increased staff and largest cost.
Option C envisions a new Library- Community center in which the library partners with a non-profit, for profit, and/ or city department(s) to provide a wider range of services using both library and non-library staff. Traditional library services are provided with additional space allocated for the community resource center.

- Improved accessible entry sequence
- More formal landscape and entry sequence. Provides
permanent seating and opportunities for flexible seating & programming
Building Features:
- New community resource center with largest community
room on the lower level. Potential community partnerships
might include: Arts Council, SCAT, Elder Services, and NGO’s
- Capable of parallel programming & for off-hour meetings and events
- New public communicating stair between all levels creates a vibrant entrance with new circulation experience
- New entry café seating sequence with flexible furnishings and work bar
Challenges:
- Largest build out with the least amount of public outdoor space
- Virtually no landscape opportunities in the rear of site
- Largest project to fund, maintain, and staff
- Limited parking access
