Concept B: BRANCH LIBRARY WITH EXPANDED SERVICES

Fully accessible library with new space to provide 21st century library services. Maintain existing library collection. 30% increase in usable space (approx. 2,000 sqft), increased staff, intermediate cost.

Option B envisions an expanded library with resources to provide 21st century library services including a new community room, expanded arts & crafts programming for children, maker spaces for young adults, computer bar for startup professionals, and learning opportunities for all.

Concept B2: ‘Branch Library with Community Pavilion’

Landscape Features:
- Improved accessible entry sequence
- Complementary balance between building and landscape on the site
- Programmable rear lawn has potential for indoor/ outdoor events and performances with the Community Pavilion
- Rear lawn and Community Pavilion highlight the rear façade of the historic library

Building Features:
- Maintains the size of the existing library collection
- Community pavilion could function completely independent
of the library during day and after hours
- Meeting room is larger and well proportioned
- Capable of parallel programming & for off-hour meetings and events
- Main level can function as traditional library (quiet reading areas, browsable collection, etc.). Lower level functions as a more interactive space (maker space, meeting rooms, etc).

Challenges:
- Building extends to the edge of the property lines on the north and east.
- Larger project to fund and maintain than Concept A and requires additional staff
